A great respect for the vine is reflected in all aspects of Achaval-Ferrer winemaking. The fincas (“estates”) are located between 2,400 and 3,400 feet in the province of Mendoza, a region of extremes characterized by wide temperature fluctuations, singular soil composition, pristine snow melt and a challenging maturation process. Working in close proximity to the Andes Mountains in Mendoza’s desert-like climate, the Achaval-Ferrer team has developed Finca Altamira, Finca Bella Vista, Finca Mirador and Finca Diamante into premier estates, creating wines of character, profound structure and complexity with minimal intervention.
Renowned for its distinct stone soils, D.O.P. Cariñena is Spain’s foremost producer of old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena. Cariñena is located in the heart of the Ebro Valley in Spain’s northeast region of Aragón, bordered by the Pyrenees and France to the north, and Catalunya to the east. The region’s prominent strategic situation as a gateway to the rest of Europe has long defined centuries of winemaking history, dating back to the Roman era. Planted at high altitude, the vineyards descend into dramatic windswept plains that benefit from extreme day-to-night temperature differences, ideal conditions for rich, expressive wines crafted from layers of rock, mineral, and earth. #CraftedInStone
